Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve seen an opportunity and feel called to GO with TeachBeyond - that is great news! We know you will have questions, so look at our infographic, read through our FAQs below, and feel free to get in touch with us to ask more.

What is the process?

It will take several months to go through the process of joining TeachBeyond and to raise support. It is good practice to join a school at the start of the school year. I.E to join a school in August or September, you should apply to TeachBeyond in the year before or by the end of January.

Most of our roles require support raising, this means a partnership with people for prayer, pastoral, practical, and financial support. The sooner you start this the better. You should always talk to your church leadership team about potential ministry.

What are the requirements?

Teachers - you should have an appropriate qualification and have completed any newly qualified teacher programme required in your country.

Non-teachers – you should have an appropriate qualification in your field.

Church - you should have the support of your sending church and have talked to them about this.

Heart to Serve if you feel led to pursue a potential move overseas, we ask you to pray for discernment and confirmation and we encourage those close to you to do the same.

How can I/we serve as a single/couple/family/retiree?

Singles: Being single gives you a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord overseas. There are a wide range of opportunities that are there for you. We would ask that you seek His wisdom where in the world you could serve Him, and we will help you discern this on your journey.

Couples: We welcome married couples to join us! Perhaps you are both in education? There are many schools with multiple needs. Perhaps one of you is in education and the other not? All our schools need a variety of staff – admin to maintenance – and often they have links with missions and churches in the community which could form part of your ministry if there isn’t a position at the school.

Families: We have many schools where both husband and wife can work and minister, and your children can be educated, often at a reduced fee rate. We have families within TeachBeyond who can support and advise you as you go through onboarding and transition.

Retirees: TeachBeyond does not have an age limit for members. We welcome you to apply for up to 2 years. You could be an Associate Partner and offer your skills as a volunteer, visiting schools as required or supporting from a distance. You could go fulltime for a year or more.
