TeachBeyond Brasil Gathers to Inspire Current and New Members

TeachBeyond Brasil held its first ever combined National Meeting and Orientation from October 26-30.

Approximately 100 people attended the event hosted by GTEC (Global Transformational Education Center) Gramado. Among those in attendance were 18 new missionaries preparing to serve with TeachBeyond.

The theme of the gathering was “Inspire: Inspiração (inspiration), Integração (integrity), and Identidade (identity).” One of the high points for many was a concert featuring Brazilian songwriter and worship leader Asaph Borba.

Orientation involved multiple sessions, including an overview of the TeachBeyond mission, TeachBeyond Way and Vision 2040, hosted by National Director Juçara Dini and Regional Vice President Arthur Lupion. During the sessions, new missionaries learned about the importance of transformational education, evangelism and the history of TeachBeyond and TeachBeyond Brasil.

New missionary Bruno joined the organization feeling called to both education and ministry.

“We talked with several other organizations who said that we could work with them in education but that it wasn’t their focus,” Bruno said. “So we continued to work in our church and wait for God’s guidance. When we heard about TeachBeyond, it was all crystal clear to us. It was what we always prayed about.”

Bruno will be moving with his family from Brazil to Uruguay to be the coordinator of the seminary there. He was excited to be able to learn more about TeachBeyond through orientation.

“Before this Orientation, we had only met the Uruguayan team. I have watched all of the videos I could find online to learn about TeachBeyond, but what we can watch in a video is limited. This week was so good to connect with people and learn more about the mission.”

New missionary Loiva shared how much attending Orientation meant to her.

“I don’t know God’s plan for me, but I’m here willing to serve Him, to share the gospel with people that are suffering because I was there,” Loiva said. “I wasn’t raised in a Christian family, so I suffered so much in other religions. To be here [at Orientation] is like a dream come true.”

The event was also significant for TeachBeyond Brasil members who have been with the organization for some time. Marcos Reis chairs the Global Committee and has served on the Brazil board. He said the gathering of current and new members created a sense of togetherness.

“This Orientation is very important because it's a time for being together and to understand who we are by knowing each other,” he said. “The flavor of TeachBeyond Brasil is cultivated here. As we seek to be a flourishing entity, being together is very important to see, feel and experience the love of God, which is not as possible on a screen.

“It's a very important moment because Brazil is very large. It’s not very often that we can do this. It is very special.”
