Lower School Principal (K-8)
The Lower School Principal is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and direction of ICSB’s Lower School, which includes grades pre-first through eighth.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
- Cultivates and upholds the school’s mission, vision, culture, and values
- Provides strategic direction for the consistent growth and improvement of the school and aligns Lower School staff with the vision
- Builds community and fosters effective communication among Lower School students, staff, and parents
- Collaborates with the Director and other leaders to maintain school alignment
Educational Leadership
- Supervises, supports, and evaluates teachers, instruction, and assessment practices
- Leads continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, spiritual formation, and professional development
- Ensures alignment of curriculum with the school’s standards and a Christian worldview
- Uses student data from assessments and observations to support differentiated instruction for student learning needs and to improve programs
- Guides the student discipline process to maintain a safe learning environment
Administrative Leadership
- Collaborates with the Director to hire and orient new staff in a manner that maintains continuity and high-quality programs
- Evaluates applicants as part of the admissions committee and admits and orients new students
- Manages the Lower School budget
- Promotes and maintains a physically and emotionally safe and secure environment
- Keeps adequate and complete records, examples include report cards, attendance, and schedules
- Ensures compliance with student protection policies and safeguarding procedures
- Follows applicable accreditation requirements, regulations, and laws
- Assists in overseeing the school in the summer months
Qualifications:
Christian Commitment
- Devoted Christian with a vibrant faith evident in daily life
- Wholehearted agreement with the ICSB Statement of Faith (found in the school’s Foundational Statements)
- Commitment to ICSB’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, Philosophy of Education, and Code of Ethics and Conduct
- Personal affiliation with an ECFA-recognized mission agency
- Willingness to raise any additional financial support needed above the compensation package
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (required), Master's (preferred or willingness to pursue)
- ACSI Principal Certification obtained or maintained
Educational Leadership Experience
- Proven experience in leadership
- Experience in international education (preferred)
- Deep understanding of Christian education, including best practices, curriculum, instruction, and student development
- Experience in staffing, budgeting, instructional leadership, and school operations
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and relational abilities across diverse constituent groups and cultural backgrounds
- High work capacity, and ability to effectively manage time and complexity
- Ability to motivate others and lead change
- Knowledge in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Proficiency in Microsoft O365 and aptitude for learning digital communication tools, and student information systems
- Physical stamina and capability to meet the demands of the role, with a commitment to maintaining personal well-being to fulfill job responsibilities effectively
